Introduction to Playwriting

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Description

Curious about dramatic writing but unsure how to begin? Do you have a script in progress (or an idea for one) but could use a little boost of inspiration? This presentation will cover the essential elements to start your playwriting journey—character, dramatic structure, dialogue, etc—and introduce playful techniques to develop your script and bring your characters to life. Playwrights of all levels of experience are welcome, but content will be focused on the basic tools to craft a play. Presented by Jessica Austgen, a Denver-based theater artist and playwright. Jessica was named “Colorado Theater Person of the Year” in 2018 by the True West Awards. She’s also a veteran improviser and teaches improv and acting at Rise Comedy in Denver.
