"If you want the American dream, go to Finland". That about summarizes what this book is about. Joking aside, Anu Partanen provides a very thorough (and very biased) comparison of the following areas: maternity/paternity leaves and…

Partanen provides facts and figures to explain how Nordic societies care for their citizens while encouraging productivity and wellbeing. While she doesn't say so explicitly, I got the impression that this system works because Nordics have…

This book dispels the whole notion of diversity is a strength. What I got from this book was to fix the mistakes and poor direction of the United States and it's white European based roots we need to follow the lead of a European nation…

This is entirely directed towards Americans and is a scathing assessment of how Americans view freedom. Despite all the good research in this book, there are times I got quite tired of reading about the Nordic Theory of Love. Anu hammers…

Utterly charming and incredibly informative -- though a side effect of reading it will be an incredible desire to move to a Nordic country, because America is stupid. A title, especially this year, to read and share with friends.
