Great book. For more fun ask your little ones (or big ones) to read for assigned characters. The pattern of the bugs' language eventually decodes itself from context. We will be revisiting this book.

This is one that is definitely best read aloud. The colorful pictures tell an engaging story that comes through loud and clear, even if all the text is in bug language.

This Caldecott winner was not my favorite, but it is very original in its use of creating another language to tell the story.

This book is beautifully illustrated and you will probably want to look through it a few times to find the hidden things you missed. It's fun to read the made up language and spot the differences from one page to the next.

This is a wonderfully inventive and beautiful book. Ellis has created a secret bug language and doesn't provide a translation, so the fun comes in guessing what it is they're actually saying and watching the mystery unfold. This is great…
