Added Jan 09, 2017: Have not read John le Carré's 2010 spy novel with the same title because his other novels often were too wordy for me, but they make very good film thrillers that feature complex (with clever twists) but realistic…

As always Swedish Stellan Skarsgard is outstanding along with Ewan McGregor and the rest of the cast. This is a riveting story and probably, and very unfortunately, based in fact. Britain aren’t you sorry about Brexit now? Especially as we…

Very good movie! The actor playing the Russian mafia money-launderer is superb. Its weird to see Damian (Band of Brothers) Lewis spouting a clipped English accent. LOL

Loved it. Fantastic movie.

Like Manoletters said the story is ridiculous. A lot of important details don't make sense, and the director simply goes with them, or is it his idea after all? The kind but extremely naive couple was just lured deeper and deeper into…

The actions of the professor are unbelievable. Set that aside, the movie is very entertaining.

The story is ridiculous if you really look at it, but thankfully, we get a collection of brilliant actors and one smart director that make something decent enough to watch...and enjoy for the most part.

A good watch.

No rating. I had high hopes for this movie because I’ve read all of John LeCarré’s books, because we enjoyed the well done film version of his book, The Night Manager, and because we think Damien Lewis is such an interesting actor. I…

Good thriller based on John Le Carre’s book of the same title. Enjoyable movie with a believable story and good acting. Better than anything these days....😁

Old age forgot i had seen this one. But was still worth a second watch rother than watching local TV's 40% adverts to 60% show......How many cups of tea can one old Englishman drink? Lot's if he's watching local TV.

I read the book awhile ago. I really wanted to like this movie more. My friend had just read the book. We enjoy most of the actors in the film but it didn't deliver as a whole. I am a huge John le Carre fan and so it's always fun to watch…

As an espionage thriller, it's not bad (but not hard to figure out the ending), but portraying a Mafia money-launderer as a sympathetic family man worthy of empathy, and all-around nice guy, is going too far.

Ugh, I just could not get through such slow dialog and even skipped through; but it still didn't get any better. Chose not to skip to any action parts, it was that bad. Didn't even watch it.

Directed by Susanna White in 2016 adapted from John le Carré's novel of the same name, this British thriller depicts the money-laundering plan of the Russian mafia. The script seems badly-written because the original story appears…

Another John le Carré thriller is brought to the screen with all the usual gaps and stretches, but director Susanna White keeps things brisk and exciting with a starry cast (Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgård, Naomie Harris, Damian Lewis)…

An absorbing spy movie, an unlikely friendship, and timely commentary on corrupt government and institutions. The flamboyant head accountant for the Russian prison mob is desperate to get his family to safety and through sheer luck finds…

Cell phone service high in the French Alps? Okay, I know this is based on fiction, but come on... most of this story is highly suspect and on the verge of being or is just plain absurd. I suggest some good old Hitchcock intrigue instead.

Decent movie, not bad, but not spectacular either. Decent movie to pass the time.

Limp, unbelievable Russia-MI6 cloak & dagger yarn. A-list talent -- Stellan Skaarsgard, Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris, Damian Lewis -- in service of a clunker script (an adaptation of a John le Carre novel of the same name). The film does…

Very good spy thriller; I enjoyed watching Ewan McGregor in his role as the mild-mannered university professor caught up with the Russian mob and MI5.
