This was my first Groucho Marx movie but I had seen him on "What's My Line" and found him absolutely hilarious. Here he doesn't disappoint and the result is a true classic comedy. The scene listed in the synopsis for the movie is absolutely worth watching. You just don't see humorous moments like the stateroom bit in the movies anymore, and that's a crime. Not only is this film filled with hysterically funny one-liners and sight-gags, but it's surprisingly romantic and sentimental; kind of a story-within-a-story, involving two of the main characters. It made me want to go on another cruise, although I doubt I would find any "shipmates" or even "stowaways" funnier than those found in this movie. Now that I've seen the Marx Brothers in action, I am anxiously awaiting my chance to see their other classics.

GOOD 1935 Marx Bros film (after Zeppo had left them). it had some fun moments, but was such a pastiche of humor loosely assembled it didn't keep me enthralled. I was surprised how many comments on IMDB had declared it their best and raved so highly about it.

An excellent introduction to the Marx Brothers and their vaudevillian-style humor
While some of the wordplay went over my head, the sheer snark of Groucho, the talented piano of Chico, and the horn-induced pantomimes of Harpo play very well in this silly romp into the inner workings of operatic theatre. The ship cabin scene alone is enough to make you laugh with the extent the cast goes to try to fit into a small room.

They don't make movies like this anymore--it is silly like the Three Stooges, but a higher level of humor. Great one liners and witty jokes.

Groucho, Chico and Harpo all together for some of the best sight jokes you will ever see,. These brothers all had unique talents. Groucho will his sarcastic jokes. Chico who is always surprised by the obvious. Wonderful Harpo never says a word, but has a horn he beats and a harp that comes out when something looks romantic. Of course, Night at the Opera has music, but don't look for a soundtrack, this is just pure fun!

Doesn't quite match Duck Soup or Horse Feathers for me, but A Night at the Opera still has some fantastic Marx bits.

Classic movie, and the short 2004 documentary on the Marx Bros which is an added feature on this DVD is well worth watching, too.

The Marx Brothers at their absolute best. The comedy is smart and deviously funny, the pacing and the banter keeps the movie running along, and the ending is sheer perfection.

this is the first Marx Brothers movie i ever saw, so it holds special memories for me. but upon seeing it again, i caught things i hadn't noticed before, and found myself giggling hysterically. Chico's piano piece is beyond perfection, and absolute genius. i recommend this to fans young and old, and to the uninitiated. you'll be glad you checked this one out.

Fun! It's got all the good Marx Bros stuff...Groucho's usual fast-paced biting humor, and some pro musical performances by Chico and Harpo. Classic.

As for the extra DVD content...How To Sleep was entertaining, but don't waste your time trying to find anything good in the other one (I don't remember what it's called, something that takes place in a club or award ceremony or something). There's a lot of talking and plot seems to ramble on, and the poor video/audio quality makes it impossible to follow.
