Inspired by the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, super-eclectic producer Hal Willner has assembled another all-over-the-map hodgepodge of musicians who combine on these tracks to recreate the bawdy, raucous, salty & irreverent chanteys and songs of the sea, and especially of pirates (arrrrgh!) You’ll hear everyone from Bryan Ferry to Lou Reed, Loudon Wainright III to Baby Gramps and Bono. And if you like this, you’ll also have to check out “Son of Rogues Gallery” which has even a more diverse range of artists, including Patti Smith, Iggy Popp, Lenny Pickett and Johnny Depp himself!
