A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below." At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old devil to his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

'The Screwtape Letters' is, in my opinion, a classic Christian novel. In it, through reverse logic, a Christian can piece together the attacks of their enemies and produce a plan to fight them. Screwtape, in a seemingly droll, uninterested way, talks freely of how to tempt the human that Wormwood is assigned to, and in these 'letters' reveals the thought process behind each temptation.

Though the language is a bit heavy, as it was written many years ago, it nevertheless is an invaluable tool in the Christian's tool belt. It is clear that Lewis thought out each individual letter, and it is incredible that this piece of literature is so potent that it still has relevance today.

I would suggest this book to anybody wishing to learn how to thwart the devil's plans and tricks. However, I would also suggest this book to those who are not religiously inclined as well. 'The Screwtape Letters' offers some insight into human behavior that can benefit anybody who reads this book, not just the faithful Christian.

Thought provoking - it certainly made me reflect upon how I live my life. The letters made me more aware of some of my every day actions and decisions, presenting them in a never before considered light. The narrator's voice has a bit of a droning quality but I got use to it after a letter or two.
