Maniac Magee is the story of Jeffrey Lionel Magee, who lost his parents at the age of three in a trolley accident. Leaving his relatives, who won't talk to each other, he searches for a home with a real address that he can call his own in Two Mills, Pennsylvania. In the meantime, he earns the nickname 'Maniac.' He can punt a football perfectly while carrying a book in his other hand, he can hit an inside-the-park home run, and he can untie even the most Gordian of knots. He can do practically anything that the children of Two Mills think is impossible including making peace between violent racial factions in the town.

I listened to maniac Magee and it is about a white boy who lives in a segregated city and doesn’t care if he is white or black. He lives in a black home and is allergic to pizza. Finally he is told to go to the white side of the city and becomes famous there. He unties the cobles knot and is almost the most famous person in the city.

Listened to this audiobook with four boys on a roadtrip. They were all spellbound. It was a great story, really captured their interest. Quite a lot of humour in the book even though it was mainly a drama. It was greatly enjoyed by all of us.
