It's 1947. In an 'alternate history,' dinosaurs never went extinct; their descendants survive on a plateau in South America. Peter Belzoni accompanies his journalist father to see the world's last dinosaur circus return its few surviving attractions to their natural habitat. After a sudden attack by a vicious predator, the Belzonis find themselves stranded in dinosaur territory and must escape or risk becoming the newest endangered species.

Ever since I was old enough to read this book, I've loved it. The writing is elegant and draws you straight into the world within the pages. It contains impeccable descriptions of smells, which is what makes it more enthralling than any movie. The artwork within the pages add to the descriptions, but are by no means needed to create a complete mental image of the wildlife and characters in this action-packed novel. Don't let the small number of pages fool you, this is a fantastic book for adults and children alike.
