Returns with Wallander in the next set of thrilling tales set in the beautiful landscape of southern Sweden. These stories follow Kurt Wallander, a sensitive but brilliant detective, a man who takes each murder case he works on personally and will stop at nothing in his search for the truth, even at the expense of his health and his family life. Beautifully filmed, Wallander is a compelling series featuring an extremely likeable and entirely believable character and bold, powerful stories.

I've read and enjoy the books and both TV versions of the Wallander - the Swedish and the BBC Kenny Branagh version. Don't compare them, but enjoy each one separately. They all have something different to offer. Of course the TV series don't have the time to delve deeper into the undercurrents of Swedish society and the issues explored in the books, but both TV give a great flavour of the detective and of life in Sweden itself. I recommend watching and reading them all.

I am watching this for a second time. I very much enjoy this series. It is dark and some scenes are very graphic but Wallander is so human, he shows his flaws and so much emotion I love his character. In time I may watch this again.

Found it to DARK for this viewer. Actors playing good parts of folks down and depressed 90% of time.

The entire series is excellent. I normally don't go in for a lot of bloodshed, but I do like puzzles. Wallander is a crime investigator in Sweden, but the production is by the BBC, so it's all in English (no reading of sub-titles required) and it's a subtle series of crimes, with always some sort of puzzle-like twist to them. I truly enjoy Branagh's portrayal of a complex individual, but all the actors are terrific and portray well-rounded characters.

Excellent scripts. Great acting. Kinda scary and creepy sometimes, but the photography is absolutely wonderful.

Amazing how close the episodes are to how I imagined them when reading the books. Very enjoyable.
