A fascinating and probably ground-breaking profile of a couple's struggle to make their relationship work, as well as being an interesting flashback (for some) to a different era. I've read that over seventy hours of footage was reduced to the 96 minutes that remains in the finished product. I'd like to see some of the unused film, and maybe a postscript to this 'actuality drama', the term that the director has coined for this work. Perhaps only in the 60's would a couple name their son 'Bogart' & their dog 'Merton' (after Thomas Merton, presumably) - today, would it be a daughter 'Beyonce' & a cat named 'Oprah'? Anyway, this whets my appetite for more of the same from this Canadian documentarian.

This couple seem to communicate only by shouting (and in one instance physical violence). Fascinating look at these two people. Makes me wonder how their son did after being raised by these two.
