GOOD 2010 release by Scots indie-pop group. 11 cuts, some better than others, but overall quite enjoyable listening.
I thought it was a solid effort. It isn't as good as "The Boy with the Arab Strap" or "If You're Feeling Sinister...", but it works as a solid follow-up to "The Life Pursuit". I wasn't a big fan of the slower-tempo numbers, but there are a few that will qualify as B&S classics. "I didn't see it coming" and "I Want the World to Stop" in particular are very strong.
Love love love B & S latest disc. Instantaneously catchy and thoughtful lyrics. Norah Jones and Carey Mulligan lend their voice to several tracks. Recommend.
I absolutely loved the new Belle and Sebastian album. It's been a long time since the last true studio album and it was worth it. Great songs with no filler. I found myself giving this CD multiple listenings. I would actually say this more of a back to basics album that reminded me more of their first 3 albums then the last couple. Highly recommended if this kind of light, innovative, indy-sounding, pop-alternative rock is your thing.
Found the album very monotonous. It is a major disappointment. I've been waiting at least a few years for them to release this album and this was not sufficient. They are a solid band and are capable of better.
