Perceptive, sharp-witted Emily narrates her transition into adulthood from a place of retrospection, vividly capturing both the attitude and naïveté of a teenager, and the darkness of experience and regret. The effect is at once entertaining, distressing, and provocative. In this gritty, original work about love, friendship, and family, the intersection between childhood and adulthood blurs and the reader keeps turning the pages.

A very well written first novel. A witty and ironic look at coming of age. The main characters were well developed however the secondary characters could have used more rounding. The plot is well paced with the settings described well.
