Lots of good story threads start and end in this issue, which also includes a major magic duel. There's also neat retelling of the two old Snow White tales as one twisted flashback that reveals just how truly AWFUL a sister Rose Red was and Frau Totenkinder gets a surprisingly sweet send-off.

Some interesting twists on fairy tale archetypes but the majority of the art lets it down. The chapter break spreads are awesome however, and a couple guest artist pieces are inventive and pair perfectly with their short segments.

In this 15th installment in the Eisner Award winning series, we are submersed in the story of Rose Red growing up as Snow White's sister which is juxtaposed with the story of Rose Red after her love, Boy Blue dies and Fabletown is taken over by the Dark Man. This series has broad appeal since many fairy tale and folklore characters appear and enter into relationships with each other. I would suggest it for fans of fractured fairy tales, superhero graphic novels and those that enjoy fantasy fiction.

Rose is finally woken out of her self imposed "coma" and returns to running the Farm, just as the reborn Babba Yaga takes on Mr. Dark, and seemingly wins. When the threat to Fabletown follows them home, can Rose rally the troops in time?

Again, brilliantly written and just fun to read. This series is back in form!

Another strong Fables issue with some fun back history to Rose Red and her sister and more movement on the Mr. Dark plot too. Certainly makes me want to keep reading this always strong series.

Ahhh now this is more like it. Incorporating the 100th issue of the monthlies, there is something for everyone in this collection. Rose, deep in her mourning period, is visited by the appearance of her mother, who takes her back through her youth with Snow White, their parting, and the origins of their conflict. This is followed by Baba Yaga (in her new incarnation as Bellflower) announcing that she will fight Mr. Dark on her own, in a single-combat duel. Much magic and warfare follow, and the results are both the best and the worst we could hope for.
