In a moving and inspiring memoir told with genuine humility, Eric Greitens offers something new in the history of military memoirs. A warrior who wanted to be strong to be good, only to discover that he had to be good to be strong. Throughout his SEAL training and deployments in Kenya, Thailand, Afghanistan, and Iraq, the lessons of his humanitarian work bore fruit. The result is a lesson for all.

Surprisingly good. Don't let the first chapter put you off. It started out like a standard war experience book, and I almost gave up on it. But then the author went back in time to his Oxford days, his experiences volunteering in poor and /or war-torn countries, his reasons to join the Seals, and it became the book I was hoping for. He strikes me as fair and reasoned when he talks about the US in Afghanistan and Iraq (though very patriotic). And I really like his latest venture. I recommend it; it's well written and interesting.
