The late (and great) Marcus J. Borg wrote all his books in a manner very clear to the lay reader. He draws many distinctions between what the Bible writers intended and what has been assumed by so many modern readers.

As good a book as you would expect from this popular theologian. Marcus Borg explains how terms like "salvation" and "faith" have had and can have very different meanings from the ones that spring to mind when we hear these and other common Christian words. Any Christian who is openminded enough to think about her faith, and anyone who isn't Christian, but wonders, like Ghandi, why they admire Jesus so much but his followers so little, would enjoy this book.
