This is a great book! My 4 and 2 year old love it! The mice demonstrate techniques or imaginative ideas that help the reader learn how to take in art and become artists themselves. The mice to a "sculpture walk" in which they clasp their hands behind their back while walking around the sculpture. My children and I took turns practicing our sculpture walk and also being sculptures ourselves! My only complaint is that a more beautiful sculpture to focus the book on would be nice, but I see WHY they used the rectangles...

A group of mice investigate an abstract sculpture. They look at the sides and the back, because it's important to see all sides of a sculpture. They talk about the different ways it makes them feel, and the shapes they see in it. They talk about the texture, and how it looks like it's made with heavy slate. A good intro to encountering abstract art in other mediums, too.

Sequel to "Look! Look! Look!", this book follows three mice as they learn how to look at and interpret sculpture. This would be a great book for the junior art classroom to help students develop an appreciation of 3D art.
