" Home was a fleabag residence hotel downtown. He paid extra for a hot plate and this was worth it for the money he saved by cooking at home."

Not up to the authors standards in the Parker series, appears to have been written hoping to sell the movie rights and it was made into a movie. Go see the movie since Robert Redford would probably be worth seeing peeling potatoes.

Donald E. Westlake was an incredibly prolific crime novelist who also wrote under the name Richard Stark. It was as Stark that he wrote the Parker series, which are probably his best known books. "The Hot Rock" introduces us to Dortmunder, who would feature in a few other books. Made into a film with Robert Redford and George Segal.
