I wish I could give it negative 5 stars...
Undescribably vile and demented.
The insidious part is "normalizing" (to any degree) this bizarre twisted fantasy in a film.
However, the real sick mind is anyone even dreaming any and all of the situations in this fiction up.
It's more than just not wasting your time: Do your brain a favor, and avoid this.

Yucky - plain and simple.

Below average movie nothing great. Was some good acting. But a very strange plot and strange characters! Quit a bit of nudity that really didn't need to be in the movie!

Acting is very good, so good in fact it makes you sick to your stomach With my moral principles I could not recommend this movie to anyone. For that reason alone, I give it a no star rating. And hope anyone thinking about viewing takes note of others before me and give this one a miss.

What the hell, movie?

Tests one's boundaries, that's for sure. Would this be classified as a neo-noir? Or perhaps, maybe a "redneck-noir"? Twisted characters, twisted movie, twisted ending. Twisted, period.

The wife and I like Matthew McConaughey and that was the only reason why we watched this worthless movie. It was nothing but violence and exploding and degrading women. McConaughey is a bad cop that is a hired killer. After he kills the family mother/wife for money, they can’t pay him because the beneficiary is in someone else’s name. McConaughey takes the 12 year old daughter as collateral until he gets paid and it becomes even sicker. McConaughey is always having sex with this “CHILD” and it is really disturbing. If you are into child porn then I guess you would like this film. In one part of the movie, McConaughey makes the step mother perform oral sex on a chicken bone… Really sick! Why they put that in the movie who knows.. Oh yea degrading the female…. This DVD should be burned.

The whole cast acting is superb but the movie is not for family viewing.

This movie wasn't one of the greatest but it was nice to see Matthew McConaughey as a bad guy for a change. I enjoyed it

This is a 2011 American crime film directed by William Friedkin, based on a 1993 play of the same name.
I think there is a couple of fatal flaws in the screenplay.
The conversations between the father and his son doesn't appear to be realistic.
Besides, the whole idea isn't realistic.
And if the script is bad, even a talented director couldn't make a good movie.
