The Great Cholesterol Myth

Why Lowering your Cholesterol Won't Prevent Heart Disease-- and the Statin-free Plan That Will

Traditional heart disease protocols, with their emphasis on lowering cholesterol, have it all wrong. Emerging science is showing that cholesterol levels are a poor predictor of heart disease. Many research results actually stem from pharmaceutical companies intent on supporting the $31-billion-a-year cholesterol-lowering drug industry. Bowden and Sinatra give readers a strategy for effectively preventing, managing, and reversing heart disease, focusing on diet, exercise, supplements, and stress and anger management.

This book along with those from Ben Goldacre will make you wonder about the soundness of the physicians' prescriptions.

It certainly appears that institutions were setup to serve the employees and lobbying companies rather than the public.

Another book in the growing number of research articles and medical books denying that cholesterol is a good marker for predicting heart attacks. Well worth reading before you make up your mind on the topic
