This book shared 101 different Zentangle Tangles with the directions of how to draw them which as extremely helpful. It shared what Zentangle is, the Basics: tools needed and helped you create your first Zentangle. It showed how to do shading, design tips, storing your Tangles, and how to draw from real life. I liked this book so much I bought a copy on Amazon for my own library.

I thought it was just me that was put off by the obsessive copyright protectionist attitude of the "creators" of this doodling....it seems almost cultish and turned me off....I honestly couldn't get past it, it is not high art for goodness sake....

Zentangle is a form of art therapy developed by two shrinks. The first thing they did was go about copyright protecting and branding every single word or doodle they ever made which is silly. BTW, it's still pending because apparently I'm not the only person who think that's dumb. It is, however, an excellent source of therapy for PTSD. I find it very relaxing.

There are only two books I recommend on learning to tangle (zentangle is the end product). This is the second one. The first one is "The Great Zentangle Book" by Beate Winkler, my favorite. She's not as hung up on copyright as all the American CZTs and has some truly beautiful tangles from friends around the world. Joy of Zentangle has enough to keep you busy and teach you to methodically doodle patterns. It contains many of the original tangles which you will find in almost every other zentangle book so you really only need these two.

Its a very useful and clearly written and well structured book, but there is something odd about having some doodling advice be trademarked and requiring 'certification' to be able to do it, and share it with others.

Love this book. Doodling at its finest. It is a great stress reducer. Gets creative juices flowing for those of us who can't draw to save their life.

Between difficult rock painting projects, I love to do Zentangle patterns. I found this book to be one of the best for showing how to draw simple patterns.

Sorry Suzanne but after satisfying my curiosity about Zentangle, I found no inclination to pursue it. In fact -- it gave me the creeps.

Reminded me of paint by number drawing and a bad commercial. I think there are many other ways to get the same benefits that Zentangle creator is claiming bouyantly to achieve!
