Disappointing. This series unfortunately does not reflect the era’s mindset and mores. The characters are too modern, reacting and living more in the 21st Century than in 1963. Just ask anyone who was the same age as the characters in 1963 and you’ll see what I mean. (And Christina Ricci needs some serious eye-drops to stop her over-bulging eyes from looking so red.) Also hair and make-up style was way too modernized in many cases, which is a real pity. The charm of a story from 1963 is exactly that it reflected 1963; by modernizing it the director completely lost the opportunity of portraying the era. Same old, same old.
