A small-town cinema in rural Ireland in the 1950s becomes the setting for a dramatic struggle between Rome and Hollywood, and a man and his conscience. Father Daniel Berry and the townsfolk find themselves on the cusp of the modern, but still clinging to the traditions of the church and a cultural identity forged in very different times.

This is an excellent and entertaining film.
I especially like and concur with Martin Sheen's comment that he does not approve of Hollywood violent non family friendly cinema and that he prefers to act in films that simply tell a good story.

Martin Sheen stars as a parish priest in mid-1950's Ireland. In an attempt to raise funds for his church and merge his passion for film with his faith, he opens a small cinema in his community -- The Stella -- provoking conflict with the Bishop and the parishioners.

Am so pleased to advise that EPL's dvd of Martin Sheen's Stella Days has subtitles in English for the deaf and hard of hearing.

It does not seem to be so marked on the jacket but I have found it to be true.

You might want to add that feature to your catalogue listing.
