The Honest Toddler

A Child's Guide to Parenting

"Outrageously confident and sweetly indignant, the Honest Toddler tackles everything from preferred toddler foods (unbroken crackers and undiluted juice), sleep- and potty-training methods (none), playdate etiquette (mi casa es not su casa), and the proper response to random aggression at the playground (embrace it--Park justice is messy but swift). The result is a parenting book like no other, one that will leave moms and dads laughing, and maybe crying, as they recognize their own child in the ongoing shenanigans of one bravely honest toddler."

So funny it made my cheeks hurt and almost woke up my toddler on several occasions! However I agree with the first reviewer, best read a (short) chapter at a time. Luckily with a toddler that's all the time you get!

I wanted to check this out because I saw it in a bookstore and the bits I read were funny. Indeed, I found the first couple of chapters amusing, but then the author's "voice" just got tiresome. I know that all of it was supposed to be very funny, and maybe it would have been if I hadn't been reading it from cover to cover. It might have been more enjoyable if I just picked it up every now and then and read snippets.
