Inspired by children's educational ABC books, this motion picture comprises 26 individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death. Provocative, shocking, funny, and ultimately confrontational, the movie is the definitive vision of modern horror diversity

The Japanese schoolteacher in 'F' says to her student, under circumstances that would be difficult to describe, "Let us pass beyond the boundaries of good taste & become one together", which is exactly what me & this movie did one Saturday morning. With all the terrible reviews I figured I should keep track of the ones that were worth the price of admission, but I lost count somewhere in the middle. An impressively international series of finalities & dissolutions, ranging from the poetic to the practically unwatchable, with a lot of toilet humor & dark sexuality in the mix. Many are effectively just punch lines to death jokes & horror tropes, but you'll find a lot of talent featured here, so candidly I'm not sure what some of these other reviewers were expecting. I loved the silky cool eroticism of 'O', the bizarre historical puppetry of 'H', the wacko mosquito overload of 'Z', the total conceptual commitment of 'L', the powerful karmic horror of 'Y' (& these are still just the creme de la creme)...but it was the Hollywood cynicism & absolutely hilarious visual mayhem of 'W' that's taking home my carnation. Great fun for a genre fan. CR

The general consensus about this movie seems to be that it was a good idea, but it’s not done as well as it could have been, and I agree. What we have here is a collection of 26 (ostensibly) horror-themed shorts, one for each letter of the alphabet—a very clever premise indeed. Some of the shorts are genuinely creepy, some are funny (I liked the meta-fictional angles of “Q” and “W”), a few manage to be both… and, yes, some of them are just disappointing. There’s also disturbingly large amount of toilet humor, if you’re into that kind of thing. But even the bad shorts have at least one thing going for them: they’re over in less than five minutes! On the whole, I’m not sorry I watched this movie, I don’t want those two hours of my life back. I just wonder, looking back, about all the things they could have done that could have made the weak parts better.

If you like a good horror compilation, and i do this is a must see. 26 short films depicting death. The stories are from all over. i LOVED 98% of them. The good in my opinion outdoes the bad. (note: it must be said, the last one... not my favorite... a little too over the top and it left a sour taste in my mouth which is why i believe the film didn't get better reviews, but again, it is art and i am guessing i am most certainly missing something.)

I put this movie on hold and when I got it home I read the back realizing that it is 26 stories by 26 directors for a total of 130 minutes, which means every "short story" is only FIVE minutes long. Blah. Not for me.

Great idea but very poor execution. There's too much going on and some things are more ridiculous than horrific, and I don't mean that in the fun horror comedy sort of way. There are two or three great shorts but that doesn't save the rest.

This movie was not done well at all. This movie was terrible Dumb, boring and stupid. Waste of time waste and of Electrical power. Horrible story line. Poor performance. I fast forwarded all the way.

Worst horror movie of 2013! Really really reallyyyyy baadddd!! Just plain awful. The cover is deceiving and the title is great.

They have a great plot and great idea but just bad actors, directors, producers, production! You could have done so much with this idea! I am very disappointed!

Rob Zombie should've directed this movie.

I was surprised i was actually able to sit through every single one i'm the kind of person that can't even sit through the saw or hostile trilogy but yeah if you get very squeamish and can't stand obscene horror films or anything that will gross you out beyond you can handle i don't recommend you watch this and you should definitely be at least 21 to be able to handle watching it or you will be scarred for life.
