Eisner Award-winning fan-favorite writer Grant Morrison concludes the Batman epic he began nearly a decade ago in BATMAN & SON, pitting the entirity of Batman Incorporated against the Levianthan organization headed by the Dark Knight's former romantic interest Talia al Ghul. As Leviathan enacts a plan that threatens the world, Batman and his allies must fight against the rising storm--but not everyone will make it out of the encounter alive.

This rating would be higher, but the art - yeesh. It's like Chris Burnham was trying to out-Quitely Frank Quitely. It's distractingly bad. But the Batcow is the best. All hail the Batcow! Also available as a digital comic on Hoopla.

A post-reboot series that looks at Batman and his international allies in the group known as Batman Inc. Morrison the writer, however, is a hindrance. His style suggests he's heavily on drugs whenever he writes, and it becomes distracting. It's not as bad here as I've seen in other Morrison works, but there are frankly better writers out there working on the Dark Knight.

The company-wide relaunch of DC's titles seems to have brought more focused storytelling and a streamlined plot to this book, making it more rewarding than its previous incarnation. (If you missed it the first time around, there's even a brief recap.) By the end of this volume, the finale to Morrison's run on Batman has kicked into high gear.
