Too brutal, couldn’t watch it.

Watch Fassbender's and Pitt's acting capabilities in this film. Could not be better.

Boring. Really boring. This is not a great film.

Brutal but fact-based story of a free man, kidnapped and sold into slavery, who uses his wits to survive a very bad situation. Excellent portrayal, too, of the miseries of the white plantation class, including a well-meaning but condescending owner, and a mutually going mad couple. This is not suitable for children.

Had this movie not been made during the Obama Era, it would have been merely an "eh" at the box office. Did not deserve all of the accolades.

BORING. I can't believe this got good reviews.

Well acted but rather boring.

Devastated. It's a good thing I didn't see this at the movie house, I would have had to walk out from sobbing beyond any movie I've ever seen. If this doesn't move you to compassion for your fellow human beings, goddamn it, then nothing will. This movie only certified me to always Do the Right Thing. There's no air in watching. I had a dismal face the length of the movie. I only waited for the next shoe to drop. It's horrendous. But perhaps you too, if you come out the other side, perhaps it will change your mind to equate yourself an equal to all fellow humans.

The United States has Blood on its Hands. From the Native Americans to African Americans. Dear God, when will we get right?

I have tried t watch this movie twice. It is too heartbreaking for me. Human beings should not be treated the way slaves were treated. There should be NO slaves, ever!

from IMDb: Bass: The law says you have the right to hold a xyzger, but begging the law's pardon... it lies. Is everything right because the law allows it? Suppose they'd pass a law taking away your liberty and making you a slave?

Edwin Epps: Ha!

Bass: Suppose!

Edwin Epps: That ain't a supposable case.

Bass: Because the law states that your liberties are undeniable? Because society deems it so? Laws change. Social systems crumble. Universal truths are constant. It is a fact, it is a plain fact that what is true and right is true and right for all. White and black alike.
