Luke, 25, is autistic and has lived a sheltered life with his grandparents. But his world is turned upside down when his grandmother dies and he is forced to live with his dysfunctional relatives who have no patience for him or his senile grandfather, who they quickly force into a nursing home. Luke is left with his grandfather's final semi-coherent words: "Get a job. Find a girl. Live your own life. Be a man!" For the first time in his life, Luke has a mission. He is about to embark on a quest.

Even though the audio quality was altrocious (at least on my home theatre), I still found this movie an absolute delight to watch. Life is difficult for everybody, but when you're special it is that much harder. Here, we have Luke, who tries hard to be a part of society. The only regret I had watching his story is that he never thought, or attempted to try getting into culinary school.

An excellent film and autistic Luke is an easy character to root for. Abandoned by his mother at a young age, he was raised by his grandparents and the movie begins when his grandmother dies and Luke moves in with his uncle+wife and kids, as his aunt says, "by executive decision" rather than open arms. Luke grows on them, his presence and personality helps them reconnect and they resolve their own personal issues while he pursues his clear and simple goal of finding a paying job in order to ask a girl out on a date.

Excellent movie, but I love these underdog succeeds stories. Luke's character was well portrayed and he manages to stir emotions within the watcher. I totally recommend this movie.

This is an OK film about an autistic young man trying to live something close to a normal life - with a job, and hopefully with a girlfriend. The film is a tad slow, but ending with hope is pleasant.

Found it very annoying the way Luke spoke, turned it off after 30 minutes.

This was a different kind of movie - not like The Other Sister, with the main actor having some kind of disorder. This isnt a fast moving movie at all, it's slow but heartfelt. You really want the best for this guy all the way through it.

When his grandmother dies and the family puts his grandfather is put in a home, young, high-functioning autistic Luke tries to follow his grandfather's advice to get a job and find a nice girl. A little sad to start, but quite funny and sometimes a bit touching as Luke tries to navigate his uncle's tense household (with two teenagers and a marriage on the brink) and his grumpy, oddball co-workers (including his unstable supervisor) so he can become independent.
