Decided to give the book a read after hearing about the movie coming soon with Jessica Chastain and directed by Aaron Sorkin. I liked it, very interesting story, but it does linger in a couple areas. I certainly am more curious to see the film now though. Glad I read the book first.

The author, Molly, is not a card player herself but through working for some very rich gentleman in a restaurant job she is recruited to help organize their big money card games for the rich and famous. She eventually becomes the game runner for several games in LA and NY.

Most interesting were the game clients. Rich and entitled. Actor Toby McGuire is the most disliked character in the book. She paints him as a compulsive card player throwing his rich wife's money around and on the warpath if he should hit a losing streak. McGuire takes his losses personally and eventually chips away at Molly to the point where she loses her big LA game and she then starts another game on the east coast with even bigger players and an experience of being roughed- up by the mob.

I am not a card player and did not know what to expect from this book but I was pleasantly surprised!

This book kept my attention. A quick read. I am sure that it is kind of one-sided (perspective). Strange that she knew something was shady (her reason for paying a lawyer in the first place) yet the lawyer said it was legal, yet she was arrested in the end. Tobey McGuire sounds like a real creep.
