Just spoke with a grandmother who had the great idea of creating a one inch inchworm for her grandson to measure with as a companion activity to this simple and gorgeous book by the uber-talented Leo Lionni.

A very cute story, about an inch worm who understands his worth, and manages to outsmart some hungry birds. A nice easy read, my 3 year old loved it. With beautiful artwork, and a sly protagonist.
