From Library Staff

I can't let this list go with Emberley's classic that empowers children to tell their own monsters, "NO!"

This monster is a little scary, with his big green face and round yellow eyes, but all you need to do to get rid of him is say GO AWAY!

He's big, he's green and you can make him go away!

During Toddler Storytime I read this book, then followed with a puppet retelling of the story. Big hit. Highly recommended for little kids who might be too afraid of other monster stories.

Be prepared to read and reread it many times!

A progression of cut-out pages form a monster until the middle of the book when the reader sends the monster away bit by bit and page by page. Themes – Colour, Faces, Monsters

Fun read! I love telling the monster to "Go Away!" and watching it disappear.

A great storytime book. Children will enjoy how the pages are cut to reveal the story and will want to help "banish" the monster if encouraged to participate.

A great, fun read to let children know that they have the power to banish monsters. Also a great book for storytime! Works well with toddlers and preschoolers.

One of my all-time favourites for storytime. Encourage participation from the children - it will empower them!
