Mariano Rivera tells his story for the first time: the championships, the bosses (including the Boss), the rivalries, the struggles of being a Latino baseball player in the United States, and of maintaining Christian values in professional athletics. The twelve-time All-Star will discuss what it's like to run up to that mound with the game, or the season squarely on his shoulders.

This is a memoir of a baseball Pitcher - not any pitcher but the greatest relief pitcher of all time! I was a little apprehensive to start reading it because I thought it would be all about baseball and i wouldn't understand it.
However, "Mo's" story is a story for everyone. Starting with his life in a small fishing village in Panama where as a child he had a strict father who did not stop short of abusing him, Mo tells of his serendipitous draft by the New York Yankees and of his rise as a pitcher.
Mariano may rise to heights of fame that not many ballplayers reach but he stays grounded- "whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted," he keeps reminding himself.
Mo learns lessons quickly. When he had a brief period when he didn't excel he realized that :one of the great ironies about sports is that trying too hard to succeed is about the surest way to bring on failure.I know that I'm a better human being for reading this book.
