There is a Stevie Wonder for everyone. There's the Stevie who made classic Motown pop songs as a boy wonder, there's the Stevie who pushed the envelope of R&B/soul/pop with his stunning 70s albums, there's Stevie the living legend, there's Stevie the bland 80s pop musician, and there's Stevie who sang "I Just Called to Say I Love You," which true fans can't stand. This 1974 album comes from his incredibly fertile and influential run of 70s album, which includes "Talking Book," "Innervisions," and his masterpiece "Songs in the Key of Life." It doesn't measure up to this and it's mellowness points towards the more radio-friendly, pop direction he'd move towards in the 80s, but it's still a fine album.
