"Why do you eat that stuff? There's no food in your food."

Boombox. How many batteries did that need?

ione sky is one fabulous babe. John Mahoney co-stars as her father. He went on to play Frazier's father, on tv. John Cuszack, from early in his long career, plays a kick-boxer before the rise of MMA. For more of his moves, see Gross Pointe Blanck. the film was written and directed by Cameron Crowe, before he did the same for ALMOST FAMOUS. can't comment on the genre film that it is: it's more intelligent than AMERICAN PIE, has a Chicago feel to it, though it's supposed to be in Seattle. the boombox held up on the cover makes it look more dated than it is. supposedly, this film reminds one of the stars, of ORDINARY PEOPLE's characterization and plot.

Nostalgic teen love.

Say Anything is a perfect coming-of-age movie. I wouldn't change a thing about it. It is rated PG-13.

Having never seen this the first time around, I saw this recently, and was left very underwhelmed. I do not recall laughing even once; maybe I'm the Tinman?

One of the best 80's movies I've ever seen! I wish Hollywood still made teen movies like this one.

Iconic 80's Teen romantic comedy. Has enough heart to balance out its sillyness. Well written and acted. I'll always have a soft spot for it.

One of John Cusack's earliest roles, and you can see that he already has his "manic deadpan" schtick down pat. A teen romance, but with enough extra to make it an OK watch and/or date movie. (*Very* 80s.)

Really sweet, endearing "coming of age" 80's classic, written and directed by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous). I dig Lloyd Dobler's trenchcoat. I admire his tenacity and his determination in going after Diane Court's heart. Timeless boombox scene, playing Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes". I do realize, however, how unlikely it is that she, a valedictorian, would end up with him, an underachiever. Love supposedly conquers all, right? (Only in the movies.) It still remains a film that has sentimental value to me. I admit it. I'm a romantic. FIVE STARS.

Diane Court: "Nobody thinks it will work, do they?" Lloyd Dobler: "No. You just described every great success story."

Lloyd Dobler: "I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that."

Lloyd Dobler: "What I really want to do with my life - what I want to do for a living... is I want to be with your daughter. I'm good at it."

Jim Court: "You're not a permanent part of her life. You're a distraction." Lloyd Dobler: "I'm the distraction that's going with her to England, sir."
