Afflicted takes a good shot at the found footage horror movie style popularized by Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, and Cloverfield, while simultaneously breathing some fresh air into the vampire genre. The movie has some clunky exposition sprinkled in here and there which may not be necessary for how simple the story is (two friends who want to record their adventures in France wind up partying too hard and get vampirized), there are some scenarios that might make you wonder why a camera is present, and the characters have some cringy flaws, but those are the only noticeable flaws.

The effects are where Afflicted really shines. It’s obvious that the directors, Derek Lee and Clif Prowse, who also star in the film, had a clear vision and they executed it well. All of the classic vampire stuff looks spectacular; super strength/speed, becoming animalistic due to blood lust, grotesque regeneration, general maiming of human prey, and the shaky cam lingered on the action just long enough to make it satisfying without being too disorienting.

Horrible horror film. HIs best friend is doing all manners of weird things like drinking animal blood, throwing up blood and asking for human blood and all he does is video tape him. Lame.

I enjoyed this one. I found it to be a unique take on an old concept. A must view for any horror fan. Even if only for it's street cred.

The scenes in the first 20 minutes or so made me dislike all the lead characters, but I thought it wasn't as bad as some of the other posted reviews make it out to be. This was a low budget film that managed to punch outside its weight-class. A little slow at times, but I think worth watching.

"documentary" of how one night of wanton sex leads to disease and mayhem. Not what I thought it would be. Not very interesting. had to do a crossword puzzle while watching to stay awake--clearly more for pre-teens--who I would not suggest see it because of violence and stupid "tests" the actors do.

Beagle0217 Dec 29, 2014, so lame

This one would appeal to the youth, the ones that enjoy the vampire movies. I didn't enjoy it myself.. There is certain creativity that is appealing, though, and complimentary.

Saying that this is a really, really, really bad movie does not come close to describing how bad it is.

This was pretty good. I'm not usually a fan of most of the P.O.V, Blair Witch style, movies that come out, but this one did some pretty unique things. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who likes the horror genre. The first 15 or 20 minutes is a setup for what's to come though, so keep in mind the movie doesn't really jump off until then. The first part is necessary though, or the lead characters wouldn't mean anything to you, but having said that, I did find that initial setup period to be a little boring.
