A woman is found murdered in the middle of the Oresund Bridge, on the border between Sweden and Denmark. Police from both countries are called to the scene, and what looks like one murder turns out to be two. It's a spectacular double murder: the bodies have been brutally cut in half at the waist and put together to form a single corpse. It's also just the beginning of a wave of violence the likes of which no one has ever seen before.

Many of you may have watched "The Tunnel" on PBS - a mystery/thriller that explored the tensions that arise when a crime spans political borders so that more than one police force has jurisdiction. "The Tunnel" was actually a British adaptation of "The Bridge" - the former focused on British/French police partnerships; the latter on Swedish/Danish. I loved both, and there is enough difference between the two to warrant watching each of them. Both examine the professional and personal trials of the detectives intimately - by the end of the 1st season, you'll have a strong love/hate relationship with each of the characters. If you read Scandinavian noir, you will love this! If you like cozy mysteries, you'll want to try another show.

The bridge is an engrossing mystery, thriller and morality drama. The plot is directed and propelled by the characters' personality flaws and those characters are well done, unique and rounded. I was sorry to see the ten episodes end.

Now having watched all three suspenseful seasons, Season one is the best. However, the murders are gruesome. Interesting plot including both Sweden and Denmark in the investigative process. Female lead detective has an unusual personality and makes the series more complex.

Quite good! A bit lengthly! But for a TV series, it serves its purpose!

Excellent series. Gripping. Only down side? the actual quality of the DVD I took out. the final disc was a bit glitchy, froze up frequently, which made watching the dénouement a challenge.
Can't wait to watch season 2!

Excellent. Better than the British/French version (The Tunnel) and much better than the U.S. version. Terrific plot and action. Great characters and acting. Lots of twists. Keeps you on the edge.

I dinged this half a star for the DVD, not the show. I watched the first season on DVD and the rest of the show's run from HD video files. Seeing the difference in picture quality, the two different formats almost look like a completely different production design, with the former looking muddy and bleak and the latter luminous and vibrant. I went back and watched the first season again in HD video and it was as luminous and vibrant as the second and third seasons. It's unfortunate there's such picture degradation in the DVD as the improved clarity really does change the feeling of the show. It actually feels more nuanced and composed than heavy-handed (muddy and bleak).

Note for fans of the show, the producer expects a fourth and final season in 2018 and he's not ruling out a return of Kim Bodnia, who left the show after Season 2 over creative differences.

A riveting 10 part series about a serial killer operating on both sides of the magnificent Oresund Bridge between Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmo, Sweden. Discovering what motivates the killer is fascinating and tragically rooted in a character flaw. If you enjoy the Scandinavian noir genre with complex plots, false leads, and deviant criminals, I highly recommend the Harry Hole books by Jo Nesbo, a Norwegian author. Harry is a "white knight" detective in Oslo who deals with bizarre killers, the political bureaucracy of the competing law enforcement agencies, and his own demons. Although there are two earlier books in the series, Nesbo hits his stride in the third book, The Redbreast, so start with that one. The writing/translation are superb and the plot twists convoluted. The killers become increasingly weird as the series progresses.

Yet another European gem. Characters in these mini series from across the pond are so very well put together that they become as important to the film as the plot itself. Forget the American remakes ( same goes for the pathetic steals of Asian horror flicks). Stick with the original and enjoy the series / films as they were meant to be seen.

Great script, great acting.
One character is the best example of someone with Asbergers I have ever seen on film. Can't wait to watch Bridge 2.

- Hi. Don't you recognize me'?
Yes, we had sex.
- Anton Cederlund.
Saga Norén, Malmö County Police.
- Would you like something?
I need to eat first. If we're going to have sex. I didn't have dinner.
===
How old is his son?
- 18. I don't see why he's upset. - August can do as he wants.
That's irrelevant. You can't have sex with your colleagues' children.
-We didn't have sex. I said that he spent the night.
===
These are for you.
- Why?
We got off to a wrong start with the sex. And I want to ... I want to rewind, get to know you.
- Why?
Because I've got a feeling you're worth getting to know better. Can we have dinner? Just dinner.
- No sex, you mean?
Yes, no sex.
- Didn't you like it?
Yes, I did. That's not it. I want to see if we can have something more.

Are you waiting for someone?
- No.
Can I buy you a drink?
- No.
Right. OK.
- Listen, why did you walk away? I just didn't want a drink.
OK.
-Do you want to have sex at my place?
Yes, definitely.
- Good. Let's go.
===
What did you do last night?
- We both worked.
I know. Before that?
- Why do you ask?
It's what colleagues do, they talk. I'm just making conversation.
- I had sex as well.
What? How did you find time for that?
- It doesn't take long.
===
What did Anton want?
- To take me out to dinner.
He brought flowers and asked you out.
- Yes, isn't that strange?
Why do you think it's strange?
- Guys ask girls out when they want to have sex. We're already having sex. Isn't that the case?
No. Well, yes, sometimes.
