And, wait, if you think that's too extreme: suppose the premise were reversed and now a 10-year-old girl climbs into a bathtub with a 40-year-old man.
Now what do you think?
A pretty uneventful drama which also lacks credibility. Boring....
a foolish premise; a waste of good acting and interesting scenery. It didn't get better; don't wait, just stop when you've had enough.
A decent and weird movie. A little bit of suspense waiting to see what happens but kind of a drop off ending, did she end up happy or miserable? You don't really know. Not a huge thriller but all in all worth the watch.
I love Kidman, but disliked this movie.
I don't belive in reincarmation and this movie made no REAL attempt to sway me by the bad acting of the youngster. Bad screen play all around. BAD ALL AROUND. Good acting can't save a bad script.
I HATE movies that end in the middle of nowhere with no explanation and no conclusion. Could be a good movie, but leaves you frustrated. STUPID!
bizarre & disturbing
the only things that make this qualify as a "psychological thriller" are the long pauses in dialogue and the somber musical interludes
More about death than birth... not about reincarnation per se. A lot of psychologically mixed up people. That's what you get. (Although it is nice to see Lauren Bacall in a contemporary film.)There are scenes throughout that are heavy and still. I suppose the intent was to build tension; not irritation. Nicole Kidman is all wide-eyed feigned innocence. I suspect she or the director was "inspired" by the Mary Kay Letourneau story (married teacher falls in love with adolescent student). Sorry, but I did not find ths movie provocative, entertaining nor creepy. If you want Nicole Kidman in a truly frightening film, try "The Others". I still get the willies when I recall that one.
from creepy to ok
