Reluctantly traveling to Berdache to claim her new property, Alanis decides to stay and pick up her mother's tarot business in an attempt to find out how she died.

With help from a hunky cop and her mother's live-in teenage apprentice, Alanis begins faking her way through tarot readings in order to win the confidence of her mother's clients. But the more she uses the tarot deck, the more Alanis begins to find real meaning in the cards ... and the secrets surrounding her mother's demise.

The tone is upbeat and funny despite a few dark scenes in this well-written gentle read/cozy mystery. The twists at the end are surprising and satisfying.

Loved the book! Usually I can't stand it when a male author writes from a woman's perspective, but not only did he nail it, he offered insight that went beyond the hilarious sarcastic comments that kept me laughing and pondering through the whole book. Especially great ending!

I absolutely LOVE the commentary in this book! Witty, sarcastic, with just enough cynicism, I loved Alanis from page one! While the book went along pretty quickly, it did do very well at keeping me guessing! Excited for the second!

I wasn't sure about this book as I first starting reading it, but it didn't take long to hook me. It has some unexpected twists, which was great. I'm hoping that the authors release another edition soon!

A laugh out loud quick read.

The "voice" of the book has a
delightfully sarcastic outlook on life paired with a warm and witty heart.

I hated to see the book end!
