Good flick from a reliable and thoughtful director, getting the best out of actors and situations with a limited budget. As noted by another reviewer, a movie about the growth of relationships, and lots of character development, particularly with the female leads. Not an action movie or thriller in the sense as advertised, but otherwise quite entertaining, and worth a look. Edward James Olmos nails it as the grizzled cop who has seen it all, and doesn't need/want the aggravation.

This is an `OK` human drama from US independant film maker John Sayles. I think he has done better work. This one is watchable, though.

Excellent movie--nominally a thriller but really all about relationships and avoiding the growth of a hardened carapace with regards to the qualities of others.

I loved this one. Good acting, good story.... No gratuitous violence. Realistic/gritty. Edward James Olmos is cool beans. LisaGay Hamilton, Yolonda Ross, all other acting good. Writer-director-editor John Sayles hits it out of the park. Made for a million dollars in 19 days... now that's what I'm talking about!
