Not your typical Hollywood romance! Worth watching when you're in the mood for a slower pace; unique story.

I know nothing about the book but enjoyed this movie. A very interesting story, well acted and different.

A thoughtful film based on the Alice Munro short story "Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage".

The film is methodically paced and without much dialogue. However it is incredibly thoughtful and well-cast.

Thoroughly enjoyable and a film to reflect on.

Enjoyable, deliberate, (maybe at times a little too much so), but nice cast, Guy Pearce gives a believable turn to a difficult role.

Based on a brilliant story by Alice Munro. Kristin Wiig is remarkable as the central character, who lets her heart guide her into a new life.

Johanna (Kristen Wiig) has no social life whatsoever (that explains the monies she had saved) and is employed by a caregiver services. When the last elder person she was caring for died, she changed pace by getting employed primarily as a housemaid where she met a drug addict. The story is fine but draggy. It could've added a little bit more to the story like make the drug addict serve his time and get cleaned up.

Another excellent engaging film from IFC. Kristen Wiig performs her role superbly and you just want this strong willed wall flower to blossom.

Great human interest story, impressive performances by accomplished actors make this film quite enjoyable.

Edith: What do you want?
Johanna: I've got what I want.
Does she ever. This is a pretty good adaptation of Alice Munro's story; you always want just a little more nuance with a movie, but I'm quite content with this. Best scene has Johanna very quietly putting down the druggy girl who takes too long to figure out that Ken doesn't want her any more.
