At times the story becomes too detailed a few chapters into the read, at others the details enhance the story as one ridiculous character after another live out their pitiful life. Also the characters seem to resemble typecast personalities, though may not have been that way when first written. This story is long. The story could have been shortened with the same outcome and feeling taken away. The end never really ended but left the family in limbo and having a weird twist which gave an out-of-character act. The end was just plain odd and weak. That being said, there is much of an impression to be had when understanding poverty, and might be a consideration by an average public which often misunderstands the less fortunate and the surmountable odds they face.
