Friendship to the max! Cute and sweet with a diverse cast of characters. We accompany the Lumberjanes as they get into trouble investigating paranormal goings on.

Category: "Different Window" - I am a girl but I am not adventurous or tough. This YA graphic novel gave me an entertaining insight as to how tough girls live!

What the junk! This comic is always a pleasure to read. Good mix of cutesy and action.

This zany collection is definitely cute and a fun adventure series for young-ins but personally I found all but one of the characters to be interchangeable. Nobody has any personalities yet. By the 4th issue with the evil boy scouts the writing and drawings seemed to be less random and jumbled an... Read More »

One of my favorite GN series to recommend and to read! Fun and silly while also being serious about friendship.

"Lumberjanes" is such a delightful read. The story centers around five girls at summer camp (and their hapless camp counselor) as they earn merit badges, do some arts and crafts...and battle demonic-type creatures in the woods?

How much did I love this series? I immediately checked out volumes 2 and 3, and will be checking out volumes 4 and 5 imminently.

It's fun and light, and while the quick and episodic nature of each comic (this is a collection of the first four in the Lumberjanes series) doesn't lend itself to TOO much depth, each Lumberjane is unique and memorable. There were some definite laugh out loud moments for me, and the themes of girl power and friendship are just really heartwarming.

If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be "earnest." This is a story close in mood and tone to Cartoon Network's Adventure Time with a decent amount of Gravity Falls peppered in, but it focuses on a group of girl scouts who are fiercely supportive of each other and go on crazy shenanigan-filled adventures. It's really refreshing to see such a wide range of female characters in this series--From nerdy, stressed-out troop leaders to plucky fashionistas to levelheaded-but-still-self-conscious tomboys to borderline feral scamps. This series also features a good amount of LGBTQ+ representation! So it's great for younger readers exploring their identity without sacrificing story.

This book is very shallow, and I wish I read some reviews or the back of the book before I actually read it..

I would rate this book 4 stars, because I don't really think the book has much to do with the "kitten holy". Also, this series always made me want to read more and more of it. My favourite part in the book was when all of the girls got stuck in the caves, and all of them contributed to getting out.

Lumberjanes follows a group of girl campers (kind of like Girl Scouts) on a series of unusual adventures. I think quirky might be a good word to describe both the girls and their adventures, although there is also a supernatural element to the adventures. The girls are just girls.

This was not what I expected. I'm not sure what I expected, but this wasn't it. I am pretty sure I liked it. I am not used to comic books, so I was filled with great anger at the abrupt ending, especially since there are several pages of extra artwork at the end that led me to believe that there would still be more story.
