Kabul, Afghanistan, 2005. Jacky is master of his own little domain, his kitchen. It's a free-spirited place where sex, booze and the Taliban collide and it's the only place where expats can enjoy a swimming pool in the heart of the Afghan capital. Jacky's raking in the dough with the perfect gig until one single event changes everything. In walks Sophie, someone Jacky hasn't seen for twenty years. She's a humanitarian aid worker, she's deeply altruistic and she's his daughter.

I really enjoyed this rather weird satiric view of a wartorn city. I imagine in a lot of ways it is probably fairly true to life . I have never been to Kaboul probably never will go there but it gave me a glimpse into life in another quite harrowing world. This was a french tv series and the last episode leaves you hanging but unfortunately the library doesnt have season 2 so you 're left wondering.

I gave it 3 stars, but mostly because it just wasn't to my taste. The production itself seems quite good, and for people who aren't depressed by a dog-eat-dog atmosphere it's probably quite a good series.

This is a very interesting series about life in Kabul after the war. In French with subtitles, but it still held my interest.

If you like the Cohen brothers, then you'll like Kaboul Kitchen. It is a quirky, black comedy where the Middle East meets the West. The series is loosely based experiences on one of the creators who opened a restaurant in Kaboul.
