Looking for an anti-hero that does the wrong thing for all the right reasons? Something gritty that will suck you in? This BBC series is perfect--it feels like an HBO-quality production.

Here's a time (post WWI) and a place (Birmingham, England) rarely captured on film. Peaky Blinders is gritty, intense, and stunning to watch. It's not for the faint of heart but it is deeply satisfying. Cillian Murphy is always captivating, and the acting from everyone is top level. The Shelbys and their gang aren't necessarily good people, but you root for them. I binge-watched all three seasons in short order.

Gritty and character-driven, this is a unique take on the period that isn't your typical period drama fare. The music is laden with contemporary artists like Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, PJ Harvey, and Nick Cave but it just works for the series. Completely addicting and enthralling with a great ensemble cast.
