If you enjoyed shows like LOST or Twin Peaks or X-Files, you'll like Wayward Pines. If you gave up on shows like LOST or Twin Peaks or X-Files because they never gave solid answers to the many questions they brought up, you'll love Wayward Pines. The show answers its mysteries directly and early on, and takes a whole new direction halfway through the season. Avoid spoilers at all costs! Also avoid season 2.

In the era of the Bush-Obama pervasive surveillance, endless war state (inherited by Trump who will no doubt preserve, if not, expand it) Wayward Pines is a thoughtful, compelling, and timely metaphorical treatment of, among other things, the faux conflict between security/survival and privacy/freedom. The story is engaging and the production values are high. The acting is great, especially the performances by Melissa Leo and Matt Dillon.

This show is for anyone who liked LOST! What a wild ride of conspiracy theories and paranoia.

The first season of Wayward Pines is pretty good if you can get past the first two episodes where you know absolutely nothing. The second season gets extremely dark. I'm not sure why they went that direction for season 2 but take my advice and stop after season 1. The premise is that people are kidnapped from the past, cryogenically frozen, then awakened in random order in the year 4025 into a post-apocalyptic world where genetically aberrated humans hunt people in packs. The only thing protecting them is an electrified fence. There is no actual science in this science fiction series which is why I took off a star. It's more horror than sci-fi.

Laughably illogical at every turn but despite disliking it, I watched the whole season, so I can't give it my .5 star rating. But really, just so silly.

This is produced more in the style of long-form British mystery dramas, so don't expect a fast paced story. Character development and suspense are well thought out.
I did not read the books, so I can only judge this on its own merit and it does not fail to deliver. I never got ahead of the story, it did not fail to surprise me.
Those involved admitted that they treated this like a feature film and not a TV show. That explains the high quality.

I'm not sure what I thought 'Wayward Pines' would actually be about. My guess is that I may still not really know all the secrets and intrigues of the place. I can say that it's interesting and the cast and acting is terrific. Principles Matt Dillon, Toby Jones, and Melissa Leo form a strong spine upon which hang a rich cast of characters portrayed by excellent actors: Terrence Howard, Juliette Lewis, Hope Lange. It's fast-paced and layered; I can't wait to see where it all leads.

Matt Dillon, Melissa Leo & all others involved with this horrendous adaptation of almost decent books should be extra embarrassed of themselves.

I have mixed feelings about this M.Night Shyamalan vehicle. It takes a good long while to establish the fantastic premise, and one expects more upon payoff of this mystery. Takes the expression, "you can't go home again" to another level. If you decide to stick with this, be ready to suspend all reason.

This movie is great.. books were a little better. People who are looking for a lot of blood might not like this movie but if you are looking for something different that keeps you guessing this the movie..
