"More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia's teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss--a devastating wound that's cruelly ripped open when Claire's husband is killed. The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it" -- provided by publisher.

I hope this horrifies readers. Or, is this what we have become? Voyuers?? Sorry, I don't want all the gory details.... which I believe only encourage and give ideas to those warped minds.

Fantastic book. Could not put it down! Another winner from Karin Slaughter.

I was hoping to find a Gillian Flynn read-a-like, but was a bit disappointed with this dark psychological thriller. This tense and twisty story connects the unsolved cases mysterious disappearances of two young women. Warning: this book contains graphic and gruesome descriptions of extreme violence against women.

I was so excited to read this book because I heard fantastic reviews from friends and online. The plot was intriguing, but it wasn't something I couldn't put down. It actually took me awhile to get through. I wasn't able to root for the main characters because they kind of annoyed me. I enjoy thriller novels, but this was one was only OKAY.

No way! I felt like this was writtened for a movie script, not Karin Slaughter's fans! I wanted to rip it up, but I have to give it back to library.

This book kept me on my toes! I wanted to keep reading to the end to make sure justice was served. It was...but the path to get there was so dark and twisted that I would hesitate to recommend this book. It is not for the faint of heart! If you can handle very dark, violent themes and love a thriller - this is the book for you. If you're like me - a more casual fan of the thriller / suspense genre, I would say to skip this one in favor of a less intense read like "The Couple Next Door."

SUCH A GREAT READ!! This book had me scared, empathetic, overjoyed, just an array of emotion. It is beautifully written and detailed very well. Pretty Girls is just the book the keeps on giving.

Tense, smart, well twisted but a little too long.
