The first novel written on a typewriter is this American classic by Mark Twain. Can't you imagine white-mustached Twain clacking away on the keys?

Boy adventures are the best adventures.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a classic American novel written by Mark Twain. The book tells the fictional tale of a boy named Tom Sawyer living along the Mississippi River in the 1840s. One night, Tom and his friend, Huckleberry “Huck” Finn witness a murder at a graveyard. The story then revolves around the boys and their adventures as they meet new characters along the way, and get more involved with the aftermath of the murder. The novel certainly shows how different life was at this time as readers are given an insight on the lives of several characters and the community they live in. Mark Twain does well to create an interesting plot that moves along at a decent pace and doesn’t disappoint. I would give the book a rating of 4 stars, and I believe everyone should read this renowned classic at least once in their lives.

Good book. It is hard to understand if you read through it really fast. Mark Twain perfects the imaginary life of a mischievous boy in the Great Western times.

A good read, as with most of Twain's stories. I would say this is the Hobbit of Huck Finn's Lord of the Rings. It is a much easier read and meant for a younger audience. I personally found Huck Finn a more enjoyable read, but I would still not pass this one up.

I hadn't read this in the longest time and decided to revisit it. A fun book written by someone who clearly knows how boys play. I enjoyed it as much this time as I have in the past.

Behind Tom’s adventures in a small town on the Mississippi - from venturing into a nighttime graveyard with his friend Huck Finn, to tricking his friends into whitewashing a fence - are the difficult lessons to be learned about adult society.

For ages 9-12. Life is fun for Tom as he cleverly persuades his friends to do his work, attends his own funeral and hunts for buried treasure. Fun; that is, until he accidentally witnesses a murder.

Superb, adventurous. Can find sensation from simple as dispute to complex as love.
