In a series of more than 50 interviews that span seven decades, many never before seen in print, this is the story of Led Zeppelin told by the people who knew it best, the members of the band. This book shoots down the folklore and assumptions about Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, and presents the bands full history, from when Jimmy Page was playing skiffle to the day the band was honored by the Kennedy Center for their contribution to American and global culture. Led Zeppelin on Led Zeppelin captures the ideas of all of the bands members at the time they created classics like Whole Lot of Love, Stairway to Heaven, and Kashmir, but also captures the idea of the band itself as it created the music that changed popular culture.

After struggling through this 400+ page book, I wasn't sure if it was a book about the legendary Led Zeppelin or a book about the people who interviewed them over the years. There certainly isn't much new about Zep here, in fact, if anything, the way this is written makes the musicians seem rather dull. Sad because I suspect that is not the case. So, if you want to read a book about people who interview others for a living, this may be what you're looking for. If on the other hand you're looking for insight on a great band, you'll struggle to find it here. The editor, Hank Bordowitz has done this type of book with others and having read this first, I'll be giving them a pass.

Whether you happen to be a Led Zeppelin fan, or not - Hank Bordowitz' informative, well-researched book "Led Zeppelin On Led Zeppelin" is sure to give you a better insight into what made this phenomenally popular, world famous, heavy metal band tick - And why they sky-rocketed into rock'n'roll heaven as the most celebrated quartet on the face of the planet.

Not only does this book clearly capture the ideas of all of the band's members at the time when they crafted such classics as "Whole Lotta Love", "Stairway To Heaven", and "Kashmir" - But it also encapsulates the idea of the band, itself, as it produced the very music that, literally, altered pop culture.

In a series of over 50 interviews from 1957-2012 (many never before seen in print) - This is the story of Led Zeppelin - As it happened - Told by the dudes who knew it best - The members of the band.

P.S. - My one complaint here is that this book did not contain any photos.
