How Jeffrey Archer can hold a reader for 7 books is beyond me! In future, I wish he could spew books at a faster pace.

This is the seventh and final volume of the Clifton Chronicles. A tear-jerking ending to a really good series. Not quite the Forsyte Saga but kudos to Archer for the chutzpah to write a series covering a century.

Great wrap up to a wonderful series. I just finished the last of the Clifton Chronicles. Seven books in the series and each one a very fast moving detailed read - until book 7 where Jeffrey Archer seemed to feel the need to make it another 400+ page novel so filled it with details on playing rugby and British Parliamentary workings. As great as Harry Clifton's story was, the two women stole the series. Emma Barrington Clifton blazed a path for women and Lady Virginia Fenwick proved to be one shrewd manipulative woman who worked hard to get what she wanted by hook or by crook.

on the whole I give the series 5/5 stars. (this book a 4/5)

The final book of a seven book chronicle.....excellent. Archer did a beautiful job of following a family to the end. Very good book.

A great series! I think I'll make a point of starting all over again and doing a read through book by book. Enough time had lapsed since reading the previous instalment I kind of lost track of some of the characters and their places in the novel.

The last chapter for this very interesting series. Enjoyed getting to know all the main characters in these books. Liked how it ended the story lines even though there was no explanation on how the villainous got what was coming to her. I hadn't read Archer for a long time and can say that he was able to keep my interest throughout the entire 7 book series. Well worth the time spent.

A great series, very entertaining, however the ending depicts Harry killing Emma in her last hours. To me this was a purely gratuitous sop to the "death with dignity" crowd, totally unnecessary to the completion of the story.

This book showed that sometimes there can be one too many books in a series. I waited for each book in the Clifton Chronicles to arrive on the shelves. This one was a disappointment. I might go so far as to say that it was a relief that the book did not have a sequel.

If there was a fault in the book, it was that it relied too heavily on the characters and events in the previous books. There was not too much intrigue. The only positive thing I can say about this book is that it tied up all the loose ends in the chronicles.
