I am currently reading this aloud to my fifth-grade class. We are almost done and I can tell you that the kids love it. I enjoy it as well. If you have readers of Wonder, Out of My Mind, Fish in a Tree, this is another one to add to the list! Students clap and cheer and want the "underdog" to win!

Oh what a nice unique story. Words DO hurt and is demonstrated in this story that things people say have a large impact on the world around. I liked her steady growth and goals. I thought it a very honest portrayal of school without being too cliched or annoying. The book also expanded out to included others in her ephifany moments, but they seemed very tacked on. Wished the situations were fleashed out a bit more especially the one with her teacher. All in all, a nicely paced read with school drama that wasn't irritating.
